As a distinguished German composer and musician, Martina Eisenreich has achieved remarkable visibility in contemporary music, ranking among the five most-performed female composers in orchestral concert series according to Musica Femina. Her most recent operatic work, “Aschenbrödels Traum,” features a libretto by Axel Ranisch and will receive its world premiere at Vienna Volksoper on November 29, 2025.
Her dramaturgical approach and wide-ranging musical background also lead her into film music, where Martina Eisenreich's work is currently receiving a lot of attention.
In 2024, Martina Eisenreich was once again honored with the German Film Music Award, Best Music in Film, for her score to One Trillion Dollars. Her most recent film scores for this Paramount+ series-as well as for Turmschatten, Ghosts, and The Next Level - were created in close collaboration with her Barcelona-based artistic partner, Michael Kadelbach. Their latest soundtracks are recently released by Lakeshore Records in Los Angeles. The documentary “A State of Rage” was recently honored with the 2025 BAFTA TV Award for Current Affairs.
For her first film music works, Martina Eisenreich was awarded the German TV Academy Award in 2020, along with a double nomination at the German TV Awards in the same season. In 2018, she became the first woman to win the German Film Music Award - a prize for which she has since received three nominations and two wins. The very first one was Tatort Waldlust, which MainTitles praised as nothing short of magic. Director Axel Ranisch chose to base a entire Tatort film on a symphony written by Martina. Following this collaboration, Martina composed the score for Ranisch’s opera feature film Orphea in Love, which was honored with the Grand Prix Golden Prague in 2023. The two artists are currently developing commissioned works for renowned European opera houses.
Several acclaimed collaborations have led to a special creative partnership with German film director Pia Strietmann. Most recently, this resulted in a haunting score for Pia’s dark political thriller, Herrhausen – The Banker and the Bomb, which premiered and received an award at Series Mania in Lille. Produced by Gabriela Sperl and written by Thomas Wendrich, “Herrhausen” has just been honored with the prestigious Grimme Award 2025. The score features a striking blend of contemporary electronics and baroque soundscapes, recorded with countertenor Andreas Scholl and the Belgian ensemble B’Rock. A new work for orchestra, electronics, and the world famous Thomanerchor, St. Thomas Choir of Leipzig was recently released for Florian Baxmeyer’s film BACH – A Christmas Story.
Martina's discography today mainly includes soundtrack albums and symphonic work, her composition commissions range from Nibelungen Festspiele Worms to Los Angeles New Music Festival. Before turning intensivley to film music, she toured throughout Europe with her own ensemble, performing in around 2000 concerts. To this day, she maintains a consistent artistic partnership with her closest band members - a distinctive hallmark of her unique sound.
Martina Eisenreich grew up in Upper Bavaria. In earliest childhood, she began experiencing ethnic alpine music. At the age of 15, she was accepted to study classical composition at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts. Further, she graduated Film Music & Sound Design there and at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg. Her first symphonic score for Moonman in 2006 was directly taken over from German Film Orchestra Babelsberg to their repertoire for live concerts. Since then, Martina Eisenreich has worked with many major orchestras around the world, like Frankfurt Radio Symphony or the Hollywood Filmscoring Orchestra in Los Angeles.
Martina Eisenreich was awarded the prestigious Upper Bavarian Culture Award in 2022. She has also received the German Record Critics’ Award and the Erding Art & Culture Award. She won the Rolf-Hans Müller Prize for Best Film Music, and several films featuring her music were nominated by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Nimmermeer received the Honorary Foreign Film Award.
Besides teaching at Munich University of Television and Film Munich, Martina serves on board of DEFKOM (German Film Composers Union) and is member of Deutsche Filmakademie, the German Composers Association and the AWFC (Alliance For Woman Film Composers) in Los Angeles.
She regularly supports charity events that primarily support children in need all over the world, working closely with the children's aid organization PLAN International.
